9 Top Tips for Caring for Your Hair During the Winter Months

Posted on December 09, 2015 by Melanie Brown

The weather can be quite brutal to your hair during the winter months. It’s so crucial that you look after your hair as the cold weather can dry it out and cause it to become brittle.

To avoid this and encourage healthy looking hair, here are my top tips for caring for your hair in Winter.

  1. Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner will moisturize in the winter month.
  2. Hair mask – this can lock in the moisture. You can leave these in overnight to get the maximum benefits.
  3. Argan Oil intensively moisturizes the hair. It softens it and makes it manageable.
  4. Heat appliances can lead to moisture loss. If you need to use them, you must use a good quality heat protection spray to seal in the moisture.
  5. Avoid shampoos and conditioners which contain sulfates. Sulfates cause the products to foam and clean the hair but they can have a drying effect which leads to loss of moisture. Sulfates have been said to cause skin irritation and this is apparent with a flaky scalp. If your hair is coloured, sulfates can leave the hair looking dull. Therefore, use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner which will help coloured hair last longer during the winter.
  6. Massaging the scalp will help exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. It will also promote growth and increase blood flow.
  7. Hot all treatments are fab for all types of hair and are fantastic for moisturizing the hair.
  8. Hair supplements are great for enhancing the appearance of the hair as well making it stronger and healthy. Therefore, look out for hair supplements which contain Vitamins C, E and A.
  9. Wearing a hat when out will protect the hair from all the harmful winter elements.

Would you like to have healthy, nourished and beautiful looking hair? Well, I know the secret on how you can achieve this and I’m going to share that secret. It’s called Aluminé. This fantastic range of products has been created by the world renowned stylist, Peter Lamas, who was the main beauty expert on the film, The Titanic. He has dealt with a lot of the world’s celebrities such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Grace Kelly, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Samuel L Jackson; the list goes on.

Because of his experience of working with the stars, he has seen how the elements can be quite damaging to the hair. So he has developed a range of products which are natural, chemical and paraben free and do not contain sulfates. They nourish, moisturize and protect the hair and there is a shampoo and conditioner for all types of hair.

My favourite is the Argan and Macadamia because it great for hair that is usually frizzy, coarse and dries out easily. I personally found it moisturized my hair, softened it and made it more manageable. I trust these products so much that I have used them on my children with excellent results.

So if you want the best looking healthy hair, (especially during the winter months), and want to find out more, contact me through this page or email me at melslittleluxuries@btopenworld.com.

The Illuminating Aluminé!

Posted on August 27, 2015 by Melanie Brown

You’ve probably seen me blogging about Aluminé hair and skin products.

These products have been created by Peter Lamas, a world renowned beauty expert. Lamas worked with the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy, Sharon Stone, Elizabeth Taylor, Cindy Crawford and many more.

He was trained by the best and he has used his expert knowledge to create the best beauty products in the world.

The Aluminé brand is natural, chemical and paraben free and is suitable for vegans.

The products are becoming so popular that if you google them, you will see that celebrities such as Kim Kardashian are using them.

There are a range of Shampoos in the brand and you can find something for any kind of hair. They are protective and strengthen the hair.

I have used the Argan and Macadamia Shampoo in the range and was astonished to see how it made my hair soft and manageable. I used it on my children and was over the moon to find how it made life so much easier to wash their hair without the tears and the tantrums.

Lamas has also created a day and night skin care system which both hydrates and nourishes the skin.

I have to say that I have been pretty impressed with the results. They are worth every penny and I spent many of those over the years buying products which are harsh and damaging to the skin
.
There is something for everyone to use and as Lamas has said, skin has no gender, so it can be used by both men and women.

Beware Of Parabens! Fact or Fiction?

Posted on August 19, 2015 by Melanie Brown

What sort of skin and hair care products do you use?

Do you care about the types of ingredients used in these products?

Are you confused by the various messages ‘out there’ about harmful chemicals within these products?

Or don’t you care what you use, as long as it does the job?

Because of the world I am involved in, I have become more conscious about the speculation about harmful ingredients and in particular parabens.

Probably about a couple of years ago, I wouldn’t even have noticed or been aware of this particular ingredient. However, there is a continuing question – are parabens harmful to those who use them over a specific period of time?

So what are parabens?

Well, these are chemicals that are put into lotions and creams as preservatives.  You might think that this is fantastic because your product lasts longer and you are saving extra pennies.

Parabens appear under different guises such as methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and isobutylparaben.

There has been dispute as to whether this chemical can penetrate the skin and interfere with the oestrogen hormone in females, thereby leading to breast cancer. In men it has been noted that there is a higher incidence of breast and testicular cancer along with a decline in men’s sperm count.

On the other hand there is contrary argument which suggests that this is all a myth.

With all these contradictory messages, what do we do?

I think that if you have a genuine concern about the types of products you use, you can look at natural alternatives.

I have previously blogged about the Aluminé range which has been created by the world renowned beauty expert, Peter Lamas.

Over the decades, Lamas has worked with some of the most beautiful women in the world such as Elizabeth Taylor, Cindy Crawford and Jacqueline Kennedy as her husband was being inaugurated as the President of the United States of America.

Lamas has seen how crucial it is to look after the skin and hair. As a result he has created the superb chemical and paraben free hair and skin care range which is suitable for use by vegans and vegetarians.

I have had a lot of positive feedback about this product and can highly recommend it.

If you are looking for a natural, chemical free product which hydrates, nourishes and protects your skin and hair, then Aluminé is the one for you.

Contact me by PM and I will happily give you more details about these wonderful products.

What's Out There for Vegans? Aluminé!!

Posted on March 25, 2015 by Melanie Brown

I met some lovely people over the weekend and they were asking about vegan beauty products. They cared very much about what went onto their skins as well as into their bodies. Out of curiosity I have been researching what vegan products are out there. Some stores have products which you really have to speak with the sales assistants about to establish what they contain as some of them have by-products from animals, which means that they are not vegan. I think I have found th...e answer!! Peter Lamas a renowned beauty guru has created “Aluminé” which contains natural ingredients and they are 100% vegan. Lamas totally recognizes that chemicals have harmful effects on the skin and has created wonderful vegan products free of animal based ingredients and no animal testing has been involved in its production. They are free of parabens with a combination of exotic botanical ingredients and have the primary purpose of protecting the skin and hair. The creator has helped celebrities such as Cindy Crawford and Elizabeth Taylor. If you want to know more about the selection, message me through my Mel's Little Luxuries FB page or this website.
