Why Do You Use Beeswax In Your Lip Balms?

Posted on October 05, 2015 by Melanie Brown

This is a question which some of my customers have repeatedly asked.
I tend to use Beeswax when I make my luxury lip balms because it has a number of fantastic qualities.

Honey bees produce the natural wax which is called beeswax.
This keeps the hive free from contamination or infection.

Beeswax is used in a lot of cosmetic production because it has healing qualities and is very good for soothing the skin.

It acts like a barrier on the skin and protects it from irritants in the environment.

Beeswax is found quite often in lip balms because it allows the skin to breath unlike Petroleum based products which block the skin.

It is particularly good for chapped lips and great for those who suffer with:
• Dry skin
• Rough skin
• Eczema
• Psoriasis

Quite simply put, beeswax beautifully hydrates and nourishes the skin.

It contains Vitamin A which is excellent for both repairing and maintaining the skin and it has antioxidant qualities.

There are additional qualities of being anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.

Beeswax is wonderful for healing minor cuts

Mums love it because it gets rid of nappy rash.

So if you want to protect your lips so that they are constantly nourished and moisturised, look for a lip balm with beeswax.
