The Wonderful Qualities of Mint!

Posted on November 26, 2014 by Melanie Brown

I love the smell of mint for it's refreshing and relaxing benefits. Traditionally, mint is a herb used in cooking and for adding flavour. However this plant does have wonderful qualities.

Here are 3 qualities of mint:-

1. It is soothing when found in shampoo, lip balms and mouth rinse.

2.  Useful in solving inflammation. Mint contains salicyclic acid which is great for cleaning the skin. This loosens up the dead skin and prevents pores from becoming blocked.

3.  Mint is a Godsend if you are suffering from inflammation to the feet or dry cracked heels. You can simply boil the leaves and soak the feet in the water.

I have created a layered moisturising mint bar which is beautifully scented with mint. It contains shea butter which is an excellent emollient. It also contains clay which is essentially an exfoliant. This superb bar  of soap is a great way to relax after a hard days work

TAKE CARE OF YOUR PRECIOUS FEET

Posted on November 21, 2014 by Melanie Brown

We all spend a great deal of time on our feet so it makes sense that we invest time in caring for our feet. You have to make them look and feel great because if you don’t, they become dry and unattractive. ...Feet have to be moisturized daily with an intensive product after bathing which involves firmly massaging the feet. Use a foot buffer on dry feet once or twice a week. If you excessively do this, it will cause the skin to dry out. Follow the next 3 steps to pamper your feet:-

1. Soak your feet for 5-15 minutes in warm water. Place a handful of Epsom Salts and bath salts in the water to soothe your feet.

2. Dry the feet and apply your favourite product to massage into your feet. I apply my own Citrus Delight Whipped Body Butter which softens, hydrates and moisturizes.

3. Using your thumbs, massage the product into the bottom of the foot in circular movements.

If you follow this regime, you will reap the benefits and have gorgeous looking feet.

Tips for Looking After Your Lips During The Winter Months

Posted on November 03, 2014 by Melanie Brown

The winter months can play havoc on your lips leaving them chapped and painfully cracked. It is so important to protect your lips. Here are 6 tips you may find useful:-

1. Drink lots of water. This hydrates both your body and your lips.

2. Use a lip balm which contains shea butter, beeswax or cocoa butter. These ingredients have beautiful moisturizing qualities which leave the lips feeling soft and hydrated.

3. When you go out, use your scarf to cover your face. This means less exposure to the elements and your lips maintain their moisture.

4. Do not lick your lips when you are out and about as the wind takes away the moisture. Additionally the enzymes in your saliva can break down the protective barrier of the skin.

5. Use a humidifier. The air inside your homes can also be dry. A humidifier can introduce moisture back into the air.

6. Maintain a healthy diet and fitness regime. If you don’t have a strong immune system it could result in you having cold sores.

Shea Butter

Posted on November 03, 2014 by Melanie Brown

Shea butter is one of my favourite Ingredients. It’s wonderfully moisturizing and has a natural u v protection, although low.
This beautiful butter contains a healthy mixture of vitamins and antioxidants including high levels of vitamin E, (which is said to be effective in the prevention of cell damage).

Shea butter is calming on the skin and is known to be good for eczema and minimizing the appearance of blemishes. It has restorative properties and is great for soothing chapped skin, windburn and the general repair qualities
Shea butter absorbs into the skin nourishing and hydrating it and thereby helping to prevent water loss.
