Bee Pollen Is The Best!

Posted on June 28, 2017 by Melanie Brown

I am very happy today. I bumped into one of my friends, who hates summer. He struggles to walk his dog and often has to get someone to do it for him. He is also unable to play football with his nephew and cannot open a window without his eyes watering and beginning to itch.

When I visited him last, his nose was bunged up, his eyes were bloodshot and his asthma was worse than normal. What made it worse was that the medication the pharmacy was suggesting was having no effect at all and he was just wasting his money.

So I started telling him about the bee pollen tablets I use and the positive impact they have had on my life. He asked for some and I gladly gave him some. When I saw him today, he was smiling and thanked for me for the tablets. He said that he was bowled over with the results.

This shows that you don’t have lock yourself inside in the summer and that there is a way that you can get outside and combat the ‘summer sniffles’.

The Wonders of Bee Pollen!

Posted on June 23, 2017 by Melanie Brown

This is a photo of me enjoying the summer.

Well, what's the big deal some of you may be asking.
Up until a couple of years ago, I used to fear the summer months. Whilst most people enjoyed being out in the sun, I seemed to get the ‘Summer Sniffles’. I would enviously watch as others would enjoy picnics sitting on the grass or playing with their young families.

I on the other hand would experience watery, itchy eyes, a runny nose and constant sneezing. I tried all sorts of prescribed medication, but they never seem to help. Well that’s until recently.

A good friend of mine recommended bee pollen.

I personally noted after starting the tablets, that my typical symptoms seemed to disappear. I usually have to wear my sunglasses to protect my eyes from grass pollen. For the first time in years I could actually leave my glasses off and my eyes were not streaming. Even the sneezing stopped. I couldn’t believe it. Best of all, I didn’t feel as tired and drained. The symptoms often left me feeling exhausted.

So what is bee pollen?

Bee pollen is made by the honeybee and is also the food of young bees. It contains nearly all the nutrients that humans need and is rich in proteins and vitamins.

Bee pollen has numerous advantages but here are my favourite five benefits:-

  1. Energy booster – Because bee pollen is packed with rich nutrients, it is a fantastic natural energy booster which fights off tiredness and boosts your stamina.
  2. It has great soothing qualities - Helps with skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. The amino acids and vitamins protect the skin and help with cell regeneration.
  3. Looks after the respiratory system – Bee pollen contains a high quantity of antioxidants that have been noted to have a positive effect on the lining of the lungs which means that the onset of asthma is reduced.
  4. Brilliant for dealing with allergies – Research has shown that the pollen seems to reduce the presence of histamine which has meant that some allergies disappear. This confirmed that bee pollen was effective in respect of respiratory diseases.
  5. Aids the Digestive System – Bee pollen contains enzymes which help the body in getting all the nutrients that we need from food that we need.

If you want an allergy free summer, I would definitely recommend Bee Pollen.

So, What's So Fab About Shea Butter?

Posted on December 02, 2016 by Melanie Brown

I love Shea Butter. I use it in most of my handmade products. It’s creamy to the touch and produces great results.

It is a beautiful rich butter which is a superb moisturizer and beautifully hydrates your skin.

Shea Butter is known for its benefits for skincare. It is great for dry skin, skin irritations, scarring and conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

This gorgeous butter is an excellent anti-ager as it is packed with anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and A. If you want fantastic youthful looking skin, then take a look at this product.

Shea Butter nourishes and revitalizes your skin giving it a healthy and vibrant glow.

Especially around winter, Shea Butter is excellent for enhancing the appearance of your skin which can become ashy and dry due to the cold conditions.

I have created a body butter, Citrus Delight Whipped Body Butter, which has Shea Butter as its main ingredient. This is combined with jojoba oil, coconut oil and vitamin E to produce a rich body butter which leaves your skin feeling soft and luxurious. A little goes a long way.

I love using this straight after a hot bath. As you rub the butter into your skin, it absorbs into the layers of your skin leaving it feeling silky and smooth. This is a beautiful treat after a long tiring day.

I Am Taking Care of Myself Today!

Posted on August 07, 2016 by Melanie Brown

I am taking care of myself today.

How often do you say this to yourself?

Do you actually do it?

Of course you don’t!

The reality is you lead such a busy life, just like everybody else!
You look after your family. You go to work and get stuck in the long queues for work. Then you work incredibly long hours often missing lunch breaks to keep up with deadlines.

You start snacking but the problem is you are eating things which aren’t particularly great for your diet. You’re eating high caloried snacks, drinking too much caffeine and sugar drinks.

You return home after fighting to get through the lengthy commuting queues. If you are lucky, you have a few minutes to be with your children before they go to bed. When they do go to bed, you might sit on the couch in front of the television and vegetate or you might be in a situation where you’ve had to bring work home just to keep on top of everything.

Then the whole crazy wheel of life starts again tomorrow. You just jump right back on, doing the same things you did the day before. But this cannot go on! You have to maintain your sanity!

You need to take care of yourself. Not just today but every day. Look after your health! Look after you! You forget that you are so important! If you keep up with this crazy routine, it’s going to take it’s toll! You need to be at your best. Just for you.

So I simply ask you to do one thing, even for one day. Take care of yourself.

Repeat to yourself, “I am taking care of myself today!” And actually do it! Go for a walk! Meditate! Pamper yourself! Breathe! These are all simple things but at least you are creating time for yourself to recover from the manic days of last week and mentally preparing yourself for whatever comes your way next week.

Take care of yourself!

If you are looking for a pamper treat for yourself, check out melslittleluxuries.co.uk for some gorgeous ideas.

So What’s So Special About Mel’s Little Luxuries

Posted on August 06, 2016 by Melanie Brown

I know!

You are tired of the constant advertising and requests to buy this outstanding product and buy that. Then along comes Mel’s Little Luxuries. Well, who or what is that? What do they want you to buy?

I started this business out of a hobby. With 3 gorgeous children and a full time job, I needed to find some precious time for myself. So I started soap making and realised that I enjoyed it. It was fun creating something from scratch, but you have total control over what ingredients go into the products.

This got me thinking. If you are like me, you probably get fed up with the number of products out there on the market and you have no idea what they contain. When you try reading the labels, you are simply blinded by science.

For me this is quite worrying because 2 of my little angels have eczema and the prescriptions they were getting, weren’t helping and sometimes seemed to cause more of an irritation.

Now I was involved in soap making, it made me realise that I could craft a gentle product which could help with soothing their skin. I therefore started to take things a little more seriously.

I went on a number of courses and out of that Mel’s Little Luxuries was born. I create natural handmade products such as body butters, lip balms, soaps and bath bombs. They make great gifts, pamper treats and the natural ingredients have been known to help with making the skin look vibrant, healthy and glowing.

So that’s what Mel’s Little Luxuries is all about.

If you care about your skin and are looking at ways to keep a healthy and youthful appearance, why not pop over to www.melslittleluxuries.co.uk to take a look at the products on offer. They are lovingly made and you will find something for everyone.

5 Top Tips for Vibrant Glowing Skin

Posted on August 03, 2016 by Melanie Brown

The environment and changing seasons have a dramatic impact on your skin. The cold winter can leave your complexion looking drab, lifeless and tired.

The summer can impact on the skin with harmful rays from the sun resulting in fine lines and wrinkles.

The best skin to have is glowing, vibrant and youthful looking skin and this really is achievable. So here are 5 fab top tips to help you achieve the best looking skin ever: -

1.Exfoliate – Exfoliation gets rid of dull looking skin by sloughing off dead skin to reveal glowing skin. Up to the age of 30, skin renews itself every 28 days. After 30, this process slows down and dead skin simply piles up on top of the dull skin. Exfoliation helps to remove this skin. Be sure to use a gentle exfoliator. Abrasive exfoliators can damage the skin which goes against what you are trying to achieve.

2.Seal in the Moisture – It is so important to keep the skin hydrated and this can be achieved through using a good moisturiser both day and night. A day moisturiser should have SPF which protects against sun exposure which can lead to premature aging.  Night creams are usually thicker as they work on the skin throughout the night with the aim of repairing the skin as you sleep.

3.Drink Enough Water – Water flushes out the toxins and hydrates the body which can only mean beautiful looking skin.

4.Eat Properly – Eating lots of fruit and vegetables and minimising salt and processed foods can only have a positive impact on your skin.

5.Get Enough Sleep – A lack of sleep can result in dark circles around the eyes and skin with a lack lustre appearance. Sleep allows the body to repair itself. Cells are repaired and your skin looks you youthful.

Following these simple top tips can lead to having an improved glowing and healthy appearance.

If you care about having beautifully hydrated skin, why not check out http://tinyurl.com/hfndkcf for my wonderfully moisturizing Citrus Delight Whipped Body Butter. It leaves the skin looking smooth, soft and hydrated. Go to       www.melslittleluxuries.co.uk to find out more.
